On Saturday 24 April, Fondazione Cetacea released the first three sea turtles of 2021 into the sea: Antonio, Tigre, and Valentino!!!

The three large specimens arrived at our rescue center this winter, after being accidentally caught in a trawl net. The biggest one “Tigre” was the most problematic because, in addition to being a victim of bycatch in a net, she also had a large hook in her esophagus and therefore had to undergo surgery to remove it, performed at the Modena Sud Veterinary Clinic with the support of the ABA (Association of Animal Welfare) before finally can be released last Saturday.
Welcome back home turtles!
