Ghost nets refer to fishing nets that are deliberately or accidentally left underwater. Many of these ghost nets do not decompose in nature and negatively impact marine biodiversity. These ghost nets also pose a threat to sea turtles; they can entangle the turtles’ limbs, leading to injuries, amputations, or even death if the turtles become trapped. We should act with the awareness that other living beings exist and that their lives are valuable, and we must behave responsibly. For the Life Medturtles Project, containers for ghost nets have been created and distributed to raise awareness and encourage the removal of these harmful tools for the health of marine ecosystems.
